Smooth Open-Comb Razor

Reluctant to try an open-comb razor, as they are supposedly much more aggressive (I generally use a Henson mild or a Rockwell 6C with no more than a number 2 plate). Pleasantly surprised by this razor. Found it good for head shaving as well.

Excellent mild razor

I usually really do not take the time to write reviews but felt that I had to. I have been into DE shaving for the better part of 6 months and had tried a King C Gillette from the pharmacy as well as my grandfather's Gillette Rocket from the 50's. The rocket was better once I got the technique and shaving products down, but still irritated my super sensitive, ingrown-prone neck most times. I had done my research and heard some good things about the 15C. Most experts say this is a really mild razor due to the negative blade angle. It seems to be the case for me as well, my irritation is pretty much gone with this razor! It's mild and the open comb makes it a much cleaner experience, as your shaving cream doesn't gunk up the head. I would give it a go if you have sensitive skin! I always use a pre-shave, alum and balm post shave, but most importantly, technique is everything! One pass with the grain is all you need to start with almost no pressure at all! Shipping and delivery was excellent with Fendrihan.

Great shave

I have 4 closed comb razors and this is my first open comb. I was looking for an open comb that wasn't too aggressive. The Merkur 15C is now my go-to razor! Lightweight with a grippy handle. Great close shave with very little skin irritation. I would only recommend that if you have large hands, go with the 25C.

Particular uses

Slender, light handle. Not my favourite but not a problem either, and anyway most razor handles are interchangeable. The 15c cannot clog (no inner spaces) and therefore can shave through long hair as easily as whiskers. However this razor cannot shave close to the skin. Good if you want an unusually mild shave to give your skin a break.

No trouble for a thick & coarse two month old beard!

After reading many safety razor reviews, I chose the Merkur 25C because I wanted one with a longer handle & I thought an open-comb might work better on a beard. Hit a bullseye with this purchase! The first blade I tried was a Merkur & my two month old beard was no match. Zero pulled hairs & only nicked myself once (from getting distracted whilst shaving). The open-comb gently moved through my beard, allowing the razor to cut smoothly. Weight is nice in the hand, handle is easy to hold with a good grip/length. Only improvement I would suggest would be for Merkur to make the handle with a slightly bigger diameter, as I found I had a sore thumb from the way I had to grip/hold it. This is the only reason I didn't give five stars, otherwise I love this razor so far!

I'm the third generation user of this scent and I've lost count of then number of years that I've been wearing it. I have very distinct memories of my grandfather in Portugal slapping this on after his shave. Still such a timeless, fresh scent to wear.

Gentle detangler
Everything about this brush is remarkable. It's the best detangler and styling brush ever for thick & wavy hair. The wooden bristles feel great, the handle is pleasant to hold, it's small and sturdy enough to drop into a tote pocket for all-day use. I'm completely happy with the purchase.

Top notch razor
Test drove it for the first time on a 3 day growth of stubble, and was very happy overall with how it performed. It will take a bit of practice to get it just right with this one, since it is much lighter than the other stainless steel or brass razors that I own. You need to rely less on the weight of the razor to knock down the thicker growth and more on the pressure you apply, so that will take some adjustment. Compared to a lot of other razors I see out there and have bought, I think the pricing was pretty reasonable especially in light of the shave and build quality. An excellent Canadian made product!

Great budget soap for shaving
I enjoy fancier shave soaps like Barrister and Mann's Seville but I am very pleased with the performance of this Proraso Blue soap! IT lathers up great in a shave bowl with my brush. Keep enjoying fancy things but if you have budget constraints this is an awesome alternative and works well.
