FAQ

Q: How long will it take my order to arrive?

A: Most orders will arrive in 2-5 working days. If you've chosen a faster shipping method, or are placing an international order, the shipping calculator at checkout will give you a more accurate estimate.

Check out our Shipping Policy for more information.

Q: Can I come to your location and pick-up or browse through products?
A: No. In order to provide you with the best possible prices, we do not maintain a storefront. However, if you are located nearby, we can offer extremely low shipping rates of between $5 and $10 on all orders (depending on size). We also offer free shipping on all orders over $50.
Q: Are all your straight razors shave-ready?
A: No. Many of the straight razors we offer are shave-ready. Others will require some care before your first shave. But don’t worry! We’ve clearly marked in the product titles which ones are which, so you won’t be disappointed. Just look for the term "pre-sharpened" or "shave-ready."
Q: What do I need to sharpen my straight razor?
A: Sharpening a straight razor can be a complex process, requiring both patience and the right tools. While entire books have been written on the topic, here’s a quick how-to:

You’ll need:

Normally at least two sharpening stones are used (or one combination stone). The process progresses from a lower grit hone to a higher grit one. Think of sandpaper. If you need to repaint your garage, you’d start with some really coarse sandpaper, and work your way up to something really fine later on.

Normally, the lower grit hone is in the 2,000-3,000 range. A mid-grade hone is around 4,000-5,000, and the final hone is around 9,000-12,000. You don’t need a hone, though – pastes can be used to do the same thing, as long as you follow a similar grit progression. To finish up your razor with a good polish, use a hone or paste in the 12,000-30,000 range.

Because sharpening can be such a careful process, it’s important to regularly strop your razor. This will help maintain the edge, and prevent the need for frequent honing.

Q: Do you offer a straight razor sharpening service?

A: No. And while you can find these services around, most manufacturers recommend that you take the time to learn how to maintain your own blade. Each sharpening service will likely cost $20-40 plus shipping.

For more information on the different types of safety razors and how to use them, check out this infographic.

Q: What kind of double edge razor blade do you recommend?

A: The kind and brand of blade you ultimately choose depends greatly on your personal preferences. Different skin sensitivity, hair coarseness, and even shaving technique can all affect how well each brand of blade will work for you.

That’s why we recommend you try a blade sampler blade sampler with at least five different types of blades before you invest in a large pack. That way you can decide which ones work best for you, and help make sure you get the smoothest, most comfortable shave.

Q: How do I return a product?

A: We’re happy to offer full refunds on unused products. Fill out the Contact Us form above and send us a return merchandise request with your full name, address, shipping address, order number, and a description of the product.

If you know your order number, please click here to create a fast and simple return.

Unfortunately, we can only offer refunds on products if they remain resalable. For products that come with a hygienic seal, sanitary regulations require that we only accept products where the original seal remains unbroken. This lets us keep our costs down, and pass those savings on to you. For more information see our Returns Policy.

Q: Do you offer exchanges?
A: Unfortunately, we do not offer exchanges at this time.
Q: What is the best razor, brush, shave cream, or shave soap you carry?

A: That’s a great question! Unfortunately, it’s not really one we can answer for you. Discovering what makes up your perfect shave is part of the journey you have to take for yourself. We can recommend certain products that work for us, but the best razor for you is, well, up to you.

If you’re curious about what other people think, check out our Blog for some expert advice. Another great place to look are the product descriptions, and reviews from customers just like you.

Finally, it all comes down to experimentation! We offer sampler packs of blades, soaps, and creams to let you try a bunch of similar but different products. Enjoy!

Q: I have sensitive skin, what soaps or creams do you recommend?

A: Sensitive skin is a common issue, and we’re happy to help you address it. Check out our page on skincare tips for some initial ideas on how to avoid irritating your skin.

These Products are specially formulated for sensitive skin. We’ve also got a collection of alcohol-free shaving and grooming products that won’t dry out your skin.

Q: Are all your safety razors stainless steel?

A: Most safety razors are made of brass with a chrome or nickel plating. The handles are often made of chrome or nickel-plated Zamak or brass (Zamak is an alloy of zinc, aluminum, magnesium, and copper).

That being said, we do offer a selection of stainless steel safety razors, which are marked as such in the items’ name. To find them, visit our razors collection here and click the “stainless steel” option under the Products Specs filter on the left side of your screen, or click here.

Q: Are all your double edge razors “butterfly” type?

A: No. At Fendrihan we’re pleased to offer a wide range of double edge razor types, including one, two, and three pieces with open or closed comb.

That's why, at Fendrihan, we offer the right tools for maintaining your razor. Not sure how to do it? Why not check out our blog for some expert advice.
