Great but no Edge

The blade is very well made. Well designed and balanced with a gorgeous and subtle damascus texture. However, you have to build the edge from scratch as the razor comes as sharp as a butter knife. I gave it to a professional sharpener service at Alambika montreal. an ex dental surgeon that is used to working with japanese blades ( a perfectionist that uses microscope, synthetic and natural japanese stones, the cashier told me ) and even he had to take more than 5 hours, going back and forth, to make it sharp and then shave ready. Everyone at the store was astonished by that thing. So here's the thing, its a great razor, but very few people actually know about kamisoris and even less can build an edge from scratch out of it. So unless you have the rare skill and equipement to bring the razor to its full potential (or even make it simply usable as a razor), or are ready to spend additional time and money by sending it to someone who does, I would suggest a simpler razor that already comes certified shave ready. Otherwise, its one of the best shave I've ever had.
