    • For hygienic reasons, no used products can be accepted. Merchandise damaged by the buyer is not eligible for refunds.

Smooth Writer with Disappointing Cap

I purchased the fine nib for daily use and it has excelled in that regard. Fine enough for completing forms yet sufficiently smooth for journalling. I use a piston / converter cartridge and find refilling the pen with the cartridge still attached is a messy procedure when reattaching the barrel to the relatively short nib section. While I do not write with the cap posted on the pen, those who do will find the cap too heavy for such use. Over time, the tension of the cap snap ring will deteriorate to the degree where the cap will easily detach from the pen, rendering the shirt clip function useless. I read that inserting a layer of electrical tap inside the cap may rectify this issue but I am yet to try that fix. A threaded cap would have made a world of difference.

One of the smoothest steel nibs around...

I've been a fan of Faber-Castell's steel nibs for a very long time and this one is excellent, as expected. It writes smoothly out of the box with are no start-up or ink-flow issues at all. As for the rest of the pen, the rhombus pattern on the barrel looks very nice and the whole pen has a simple elegance to it. The cap posts securely on the back of the barrel, but the pen winds up being top-heavy that way, unless you are a "high-gripper" (hold your fountain pens higher up the barrel, as I do). I tried using the pen uncapped and it was fine for my hands (I take Women's size XL gloves) if I held the pen a bit lower down the barrel than I usually do. If they'd made the barrel slightly longer *or* if the cap posted more deeply, it would be the perfect size for me. As it stands, I don't mind adjusting my grip when I use it because it's such a smooth, reliable writer.
