DOVO Beard Care Set No. 6

4 Nice items, 1 awful one, awful price

I bought this set as I was looking for a high quality "all in one" facial hair maintenance set. I have two major problems with this set: the shavette, and the price. Regarding price, shame on Fendrihan and Dovo for their pricing, and shame on me for not noticing. The tweezers are $28, the scissors are $85, nose trimmer $75, shavette $60. Dovo doesn't seem to sell a beard comb separately, but a nice Kent one is $12. A pack of double edged razors is $10. Add it up and you get $270. I guess they think the leather case is worth $105? This product is obnoxiously priced, and I acknowledge my own complicit role in actually buying it. You, however, should not buy it. The tweezers, scissors, comb and nose trimmer are quite nice. Hefty, solid, sharp, nice to use. The shavette belongs in the trash. This was apparently designed when single use long blades were available. Now you have to break a double edge razor in half, but the shavette itself is shorter than the length of two half razors, so the razors need to overlap, making the cutting edge uneven. Worse than that, the shavette actually has no mechanical or physical "stops" to hold the razor halves in place. That means the user has to hold the razors - from the cutting edge, mind you - while a friction-fit clamp pins them together. It's nearly impossible to have the blades aligned, meaning you're always either at risk of cutting yourself during blade adjustment, or cutting yourself shaving with a shavette that has a razor with two misaligned cutting edges on it! It's actually absurd because the body of the shavette is long enough that both razor halves could fit nicely in there, side by side, they just chose not to build it that way. Good shipping from Fendrihan, but I cannot recommend against this product in stronger terms. I will re-think future purchases after this "premium" product let down.
