Perfection.

Great brush,no need for a bigger version, except maybe a big boar for fun, once broken in the brush is soft with good backbone and splays huge.a dot of soap and three passes, never experienced that stinginess from any other badger brush before. No hair loss at all,not even one.

Great brush, great price

I bought a Simpsons Special seven years ago and keep it in my travel bag. It is a great brush and very reasonably priced. Fascinating company.

Went down the rabbit hole and this is what I came out with

I have no idea why, but learning about shaving brushes in order to select the "perfect" one became a bit of an obsession of mine for about a week. I must have read over 500 reviews on various sites, watched video, etc...Shopped around at a couple brick and mortar places near me. I was first drawn to the idea of a boar hair brush for the cost and the fact that people really seem to stand by the Omega and Semogue brands. However, many people state that these brushes can take a while to break in...saying things like "this will be as soft as any badger brush after a month of daily shaves". Really? I shave like once every 4 or 5 days...that sounds like a 4-5 month time investment to save $20-30. No thanks. What ended up really selling me on the Simpson Special Best Badger is a few key points. I watched an on-line review that compared the density of the knot of a Simpson brush to a couple other brands. Simpson packs a ton of hair into their knots, creating a great backbone. I looked at a few badger brushes in the $40-$120 range at a couple shops near me and they all felt floppy compared to this Simpson. Second point, I wanted a small knot. As someone with a beard, I was't interested in slathering gobs of cream on my face with a brush with a 25mm+ knot. The 19-20mm knot on this (some sites say 19, others 20) is perfect for me. Last point...despite the small knot, the handle isn't small. Its long enough and the shape allows you to comfortably hold it near the bottom and not get cream all over your hands during use. This brush is a great hand made product that is 100% worth the money. It has a great solid feel to it. So many brushes I compared it to had flimsier knots or cheap plastic handles. Also, considering the exchange rate when you buy direct from Simpson, this specific brush is a great relative deal for Canadians on Fendrihan. I don't think you can do much better than this brush in terms of bang for your buck if you're willing to purchase one in the $50 range.
