Pearl Shaving Flexi Adjustable Safety Razor

Good razor with one problem

I bought this razor in 2021. I like this razor. It is similar than the Rex Ambassador with'n the price and the quality. The problem with this razor is that the gap on one side is wider than on the other side. And that's it at any dial number and any kind of blade. You can see with your eyes that the blade have not the same distance than the other side of the razer.

Despite being a relatively new wet shaver, I found this Pearl razor to be exceptional in most aspects. It delivered close shaves (BBS) without any discomfort, even for a beginner like me. The blade gap and alignment were perfect, and it functioned smoothly on high settings. However, a persistent rattling noise emanating from the handle significantly detracts from the shaving experience. While Pearl assures this noise is harmless, it's quite bothersome, and I sincerely hope they can address it in a future version. This minor flaw is the sole reason for my 3-star rating; otherwise, it's a fantastic and underrated razor. Pearls response on the rattling noise - verbatim - "The noise stemming from the razor is attributed to the movable fixed lock, specifically when it is rotated from the handle I am reassuring you to know that this noise does not signify any inherent issues with the razor itself."

Fantastic razor but the rattling noise is a put off

Excellent results -- well worth its cost

I got an attack of "razor acquisition disorder", and wanted to compare my Merkur Progress against a fully-machined adjustable razor. The Progress does OK, if I'm careful to keep the blade centered when I load it. I'm happy with it at "1.5", on a scale of 1 - 6. The Pearl Flexi kept coming up in reviews, as having fixed problems with early batches, and being reliable and generally liked. It's machined, chrome-plated brass, and at the low end of the price range for similar razors. So I ordered one. . . . Delivery (free) took a few days, no problems at all. It's really nice -- I like the matte chrome. It's heavy (brass, not Zamac), and I find that the best place to hold it is up at the adjustment ring, close to the head. It has perfect alignment of blade and head -- even exposure, even blade gap. I started out using the Feather blades I was used to using, in my Progress. With the new Flexi, I had problems with skin irritation. (I thought my technique was really good -- clearly, it could use improvement.) I've now used the Flexi with the *****'s (Indian) blades it came with, and with Astra SP blades (one step less sharp than Feather): . . . With those blades, with the gap set at "2" (1-6 range), the shaves I get are excellent -- better than the Progress. . . . Smooth skin, no irritation, no weepers, no angst. Color me "happy".

Great razor with only one problem

This heavy, short-handled razor is a keeper. Only problem is that the head is too wide so that when removing the blade you can't get a grip on the blade edges. First time I've cut my finger with a safety razor. Just have to be more careful when handling. Other than that highly recommended.
